Subject: Forwarding the information on "Rabies Prevention and Control Measures" provided by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency, Ministry of Agriculture. Please assist in dissemination and awareness. Please be informed.
Explanation:
1. Handled in accordance with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency (hereinafter referred to as APHIA), Ministry of Agriculture, Letter No. 1151861166A, dated January 15, 2026.
2. As it is currently the active season for ferret-badgers (from October to March each year), and as foothill and low-to-mid elevation hilly areas are preferred habitats for ferret-badgers, to prevent rabies outbreaks, please assist in promoting the following:
(1) Do not abandon pets, do not touch, capture, or keep wild animals, and regularly vaccinate dogs, cats, and captive carnivorous animals against rabies.
(2) If animals are found exhibiting abnormal behavior, such as sudden aggression or biting, immediately keep a safe distance and promptly notify the local animal disease control authority so that animal health personnel can handle the situation.
(3) If accidentally scratched or bitten by a suspected infected animal, immediately wash the wound with soap and plenty of water for 15 minutes, then disinfect with povidone-iodine or 70% alcohol, and seek medical attention as soon as possible to ensure personal safety.
